The Elqui Valley is a coastal Desert and Chile’s northernmost wine producing area. In Quechua the language of the Inca Emperor, Elqui or `Elki´ means narrow valley. Known for the clearest skies in the world, the region has long been endowed with an energy that comes from its exceptional natural conditions. With average day/night temperature fluctuations of more than 35ºF, grapes achieve optimal ripeness while retaining a freshness that comes from our proximity to the Pacific Ocean
Tasting notes Sauvignon Blanc

Review: "Elki's 2008 Sauvignon Blanc has an expressive bouquet of spring flowers, melon, grapefruit, and lemon-lime. Impeccably balanced, this pure, vibrant wine has a long, fruit-filled finish and should provide pleasure for the next two years. The Elqui Valley is a northerly, high elevation, cool-climate region which is just beginning to be developed. Early results suggest that Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah will flourish here."
Light yellow. Sharply focused lime and grapefruit on the nose, along with notes of white pepper and anise. Fleshy but energetic, with sweet pear and tangy citrus flavors underscored by dusty minerals. The herbal note repeats strongly on the spicy, impressively persistent finish. This wine's vibrancy and clarity are worthy of note.--Josh Raynolds of Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 90 Points
